8:52 am - TTTT Traffic
Was grinding teeth in traffic and decided to catch up instead but I'm not sure if this isn't worse than people putting on make-up while driving.
Although I am generally stationary.

8:30 pm - Lazy Day
Was supposed to find an outfit for the Summer Cup but Grey's Anatomy and a very late night kept me in. Oh well will have to make time to shop during the week - better find out what time Sandton City closes on weekdays, didn't have any luck in Cresta. Worst comes to the worst I'll make a plan with what I have floating around. Clothes shopping is not a favourite.

Shopping for books on the other hand is a favourite - found the latest Kellerman and Patterson. Wheeee :)

9:03 pm - *blush* *Wave*
Hi hi. Went through some old posts and dumped them, very negative. Someone wasn't enjoying her Cheese being Moved :P

Life is ticking along quite nicely. Happy with work, have ironed out some of the personality kinks. Or just learned to ignore them. Or term them adorable little quirks.

Building at home. A little painful but it'll be worth it when it's done, we're going from 2 bedroom 1 bathroom to 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom. It'll be good for the resale value when we get there one day.

Lots of fun with other 1/2 - weekends made up of spoiling and general merriment.

Finally sticking to a diet for longer than 2 minutes, organised a Weigh Less group for work (you can with 10 or more people) and finding it motivational. Lost 8.something to date. Yay! Now to roll back the rest of time...

Hope everyone is well, off to do a little catching up.

10:36 am - Wow - Wesbank Responded
The National Manager of Wesbank phoned Pierre this morning and said she had read his journal (which confused the heck out of him seeing I hadn't updated him yet on getting grumpy and posting - and I didn't know they monitored LJ!).

Anyway - now - this is service:
She listened to the calls with Jasmaine (and yes the silly sod does actually have an e-mail address) and agreed he has not received good service (and hopefully she gets sorted out / retrained)
She apologised (always nice)
And she has sorted out the interest rate (which was a major bone of contention)
And - she's efficient! He wasn't expecting her to get back to him so quickly.
She is also relooking their processes

I'm really impressed.

Pierre has gone from a "I'll never darken their doorstep again" to "hmmm, one can maybe deal with them again".

11:12 am - Oh Come On!
Maybe I’m being naïve but I would expect a little customer service, even from the banks. We have been dealing with Wesbank recently to fund the excess on the car and the service is so pathetic it is ridiculous. Pierre has been dealing with someone called Jasmine who won’t give him a phone number or an e-mail address, she apparently only has a fax number.
We have wound up sending multiple faxes to her saying please contact us, what is happening and so on. With no response Pierre spent 30 minutes on the phone lines hunting her down at Wesbank and she told him documentation is outstanding. And she sent the request to the wrong e-mail address (oh, suddenly she can access e-mail?).

It was for some insurance paper noting the interest of Wesbank. Which she had said she would get hold of.
Pierre: So you haven’t?
Jasmine: No
Pierre: But you said you would, are you going to do it now?
Jasmine: Would you do it for me?
To which the answer was yes – but oh.my.god – and we have been trying to get this finalised for over a month now!

Needless to say we will do anything we can now to finance the damn thing through a person loan if we can (something about previous contracts) and never, ever darken Wesbank’s doorstep again. The service industry needs to remember that one bad staff member can blow it for all future dealings.

10:15 pm - Eeek no World of Warcraft for the weekend
Well, you see, the modem and Pierre's PC got taken out, we think through a phone line hit, but no idea why his PC got taken out in the process.  Anyways, PC is in for repairs, bought a new modem, still no luck, and waiting for a Telkom technician (yes, well, hopefully it'll be fixed before this December).

So funnily enough we've been out and about more than usual, I've been watching Army Wives (fun) and scrap booking (new fun).   Only thing I'm missing is being able to pick up home e-mail.

11:44 am - Weekly Update
I have nothing exciting to add to LJ in General I'm afraid. Loving work. Zonked tired when I get home, or catching up on laptop because the day was spent in meetings.

Getting comics today and going out for lunch, our monthly trip.

I really am a creature of habit in non-work life. Which I enjoy. But no wonder I enjoy constant change in my work life. Well, project wise. I did not enjoy changing offices, it just felt too strange. And I still press the 3rd floor button in the lift everytime I get in.

10:37 pm - And to All A Good Night
Merry Christmas to everyone, we've just done the traditional Christmas Eve with over excited children and enough Turkey to take Deryck through until Easter.

Hope you all have a stunning time.

9:52 am - Kids are the Cutest ... Mostly
I'm loving spending time with my niece and nephew in Cape Town (Pierre back in Jhb working, bad time of the year for time off). Even the blasting of a police siren directly in my ear (via a walkie talkie) hasn't dampened that one (glares at nephew).

Jordie (8) made breakfast in bed ... delivered about 2 hours before I woke up ... cold eggs ... numm? Very sweet - my brother says this is the latest thing so be careful when you step out of bed there could very well be a suprise.

Also the cutest, yesterday a man came past to fix the gate, and as we come outside there is this teeny tiny little 5 year old leading this big, burly man by his hand to where we are, awwwwwwwww!!!

He then asked the man if he is my Dad! *Grin*. You see in David's world we all have Dads and when he met Pierre last year he decided that he is my dad, there are no husbands, only Daddys. I guess from a 5 year old point of view that makes sense.

8:47 am - What would your warning label say?
Got the idea from a post from [info]jonty ... who feels some people should come with warning labels.   And yes, they really, really should.

So I was wondering what your Warning Labels would say?

For example - my cats would come with one saying "Dry Clean Only".
I guess one of mine would be "Grumpy when Tired"

And yours?

8:43 am - On the other side of the world
I'm about to spend my 3rd day in Centurion, *gasp* FAR NORTH - as I said to Pierre (being Afrikaans) the land of your ancestors ... ha.ha.ha. (Yes, yes, he was born in Oudtshoorn and brougt up in Randburg).

However, the traffic going up to Rivonia KILLS, but after that, including Midrand funnily enough it's not too bad, I wouldn't want to be on the N1S coming the other way in the mornings though.

I was also very happy to see traffic cops at the Rivonia off ramp yesterday, the idiots turn from the middle lane to the off ramp as well, leaving only 1 lane free on the highway - 5 minutes saved for them, and 100s (1000s?) of people left with at least 30 minutes added to their journeys.

Besides taxis and ex bmw drivers in 4x4s what are your pet traffic peeves?

1:31 pm - Ah yes the wonders of City Power
You see we have this electricity box outside, with a danger sign on it, which I think someone hit with their vehicle ... or walked into really hard... the point is it's broken.

It is literally falling apart - one side is missing (so you see the switches and the grass growing up in the red cables) and is leaning over more and more, with the bottom so rusted I'm actually suprised it's standing.

I've been logging calls since 26 September, and I'm now on my 5th log - with the techs closing it saying that the box is secured... anyway today I found someone to mail photos to, and of course, the mail was blocked by their security system, I hope their tech releases it as requested.

Needless to say the last call was closed again.... AGAIN!!!!!!  The call has been placed to maintenance to fix the box (how I ask you when there are pieces missing).  When I phoned again I asked if they are actually going to the right suburb, which is why I'm trying to mail through pictures.

Are they actually waiting for some drunken idjit to walk up to the box and kill themselves before they do something about it?

11:24 am - Not a good start for the week at all
I either picked up a cold or with spring being sprung hit some vicious allergies, again. The older I get the less immune I seem to be. Anyway, I'm at home with a nasty sore throat and stuffy nose. Ugh. If it's a cold I don't want to spread it :(

I hate it when people go to work sick and just pass on the bug. Although admittedly I have been known to do that.

Well, here's hoping it all clears up NOW.
